The Information Initiative Center (ITC) will carry out a research project that uses operational data from the High-Performance Computing System. In this research, we use the job execution history that the High-Performance Computing System records for its operation and management, with the aim of improving the operation of the system.
What is the High-Performance Computing System?
The High-Performance Computing System is a computing resource provided free of charge to members of NAIST (students, faculty, and staff) as part of the Mandara System. (In the research title and elsewhere in the attached document, this system is referred to as the "shared computing system (共用計算機システム).")
Because the operational data contains personal information (account names and the job execution history associated with them), this research has been reviewed and approved by the institutional research ethics review. Ordinarily, individual consent is obtained for the use of data in research. However, because this research uses data that has already been recorded, the number of data subjects is large, and some of them are difficult to contact due to graduation or leaving the university, we are publishing this notice on this page in place of obtaining individual consent. Further details are provided in the document below. Please note that this document is currently available in Japanese only.
If you do not wish your data to be used in this research, please opt out as follows:
- Who: Anyone who used the High-Performance Computing System between Nov. 2023 and Mar. 2026
- Deadline: December 31, 2026

Data belonging to those who opt out will be excluded and will not be used in the research, and opting out will not result in any disadvantage to you. Please note that after this deadline, the information required to process opt-out requests will be discarded and the data will be processed into a form that cannot identify individuals; therefore, it will no longer be possible to single out and remove the data of a specific individual.
