Hyper Giga-bit Campus Network : "MANDARA Net"
Giga-bit class optical fiber networks form the backbone of the MANDARA network with a speed of 8Gbps. They are connected using an Ultra network hub, GIGA switch, IP switch, ATM, and other latest technologies. An FDDI ring is also located as a fail-safe backup.
The FDDI segments for server systems, which are intensivery accessed by many clients, are directly connected to the backbone. Floor network (Ethernet or FDDI) routers are also connected to the backbone.
Fiber network connected with a GIGA switch is used as a multi-media date highway. To the outer world, lines having at least 1Gbps speed are dedicated for internet access.
The MANDARA network is always changing and evolving according to the growth of traffic requirement and the progress of communication technology. Both backbone network and floor network are planned to be enhanced for higher speed.
